Whistleblowing is a funny one, and what's in the publics interest to know is pretty subjective. He released 750,000 documents, and without knowing exactly what they all were it's hard to comment but I'm sure it was reported at the time that he had been posting documents with personal information of spies and agents who were still on active duty. Depending on where they are in the world that's essentially handing out a death sentence. Acey had replied that was 'fake news' so fuck knows. Sure I read it on sky or something.

My "fake news" thing just meant that, afaik, there's no evidence that a single person came to harm as a result of Manning's leaks (beyond Manning herself).

That doesn't mean there wasn't the potential for it to happen though, if in fact those were documents that were released.

Ok, but the argument that the public interest in reading the information is outweighed by security concerns becomes incredibly weak when nobody gets hurt as a result.

Do you think information regarding defence and how operations are conducted in wars should be public knowledge?

Whistleblowers should be valued by society, particularly today. Have you seen the most famous video that came out? The civilians and reporters being slaughtered by a US helicopter? I think human rights outweigh US military intelligence.
The UN described her initial containment as torture and she's served 7 years in a male prison with numerous suicide attempts. That's plenty, as they say.

mental video. Now that was a whistle-blow.

Neggied Tatum for his repetitive and hurtful comments, and Mags for associating himself with them.
![]() Don't think "Well OBVIOUSLY they wouldn't tell us if their predictions of doom for intelligence personnel overseas had proved to be correct or not, even in non-specific terms" really works as an argument, boys.

If you were going to choose someone to be an undercover agent you'd probably go with the most inconspicuous, apparently weedy and insignifcant guy around.

Been forced to administer Acey with a retaliatory neggy.
I do not think that it is unreasonable to assume that the intelligence services would not send out a world-wide missive stating that a spy had been killed as a result of an already embarrassing security leak.

He simply would not have had his sentence cut if that was the case.
