I don't really think it's fingers in the ears at all. I'd agree that because of social media it's so easy for people to block or self censor the media that's available to them. And there is a problem with debate being shut down because it's so much easier for people to just remove themselves or others from a debate.
In this case though it's just Branson not wanting his brand associated with a controversial paper. I really don't see any reason to criticise him at all. I don't even think he's made a massive deal about it either, it's others who have.
